Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the visibility of a website or a web page in search engines via the “natural” or un-paid (“organic” or “algorithmic”) search results.

In general, the earlier (or higher ranked on the search results page), and more frequently a site appears in the search results list, the more visitors it will receive from the search engine’s users. SEO may target different kinds of search, including image search, local search, video search, academic search, news search and industry-specific vertical search engines.

Great infographic on content marketing as it relates to SEO. What a great set of stats about content generation, its value to SEO and marketers forecast for SEO. $12.5 Billion is a huge investment in content/SEO but clearly, if successful, the payoff from positioning in the natural search results will provide the ROI (Return on Investment). There is no question that quality content not only gets better treatment by Google, but also more shares, likes, comments, retweets, +1, etc and other social signals which have a secondary positive impact on search engine rankings for quality content. Thanks for sharing!

Awesome infographic! It can be very difficult to get clients to engage in sufficient content marketing but it pays off every time in search rankings and traffic. Love the Panda!

Content, social signals, & backlinks are still all necessary, but it seems quality is edging out quantity. Aspecially for backlinks. One high quality backlink is now clearly better than a bunch of low quality ones, IMHO.

Yes. Get the best content to the top by forcing the worst content to the bottom. Does cream rise or milk sink?
