Social Media Marketing Trends in 2013
Social media marketing refers to the process of gaining website traffic or attention through social media sites. Social media marketing programs usually center on efforts to create content that attracts attention and encourages readers to share it with their social networks.
A corporate message spreads from user to user and presumably resonates because it appears to come from a trusted, third-party source, as opposed to the brand or company itself. Hence, this form of marketing is driven by word-of-mouth, meaning it results in earned media rather than paid media.

#'s 9 & 11 Look to be heavily underway already, as do a few of the others. I think fatigue is stronger than reported with Facebook, and niche networks will definitely see a spike.

Great insights and observations. I can't wait to see how everything evolves. Social media is oftentimes an unpredictable beast. I see Google+ gradually taking over if they can release an API in 2013.

Watching how the trends emerge should make for an interesting 2013. You began by saying recommendations “appear” to come from trusted 3rd party source. I wonder what developments will happen to ensure that the recommendations “actually” come from a trusted 3rd party source. Perhaps TrustCloud?

Great 2013 Social Media infographic. Four Square is definitely poised to be an active player in consumers being marketers through their reward system, though it is not mentioned in this infographic.
