The 2nd Generation Of Social is here #infographic
Four Major Social Customer Segments To Watch
The second generation of Social is about truly understanding who these Fans, Followers, and Friends are—what do they care about, what influences their behavior, and what insights and value can they bring to companies and their fellow customers?
This observation is supported by market research The Incyte Group conducted for us to help guide our product roadmap and company vision. The research suggested that there is a gap between the way customers want to connect with companies they care about online and the way that brands are actually using social networks.
To understand the demographics of these segments, as well as the best ways to reach them, check out the infographic below:

A social network is a social structure made up of a set of actors (such as individuals or organizations) and the dyadic ties between these actors. The social network perspective provides a clear way of analyzing the structure of whole social entities.[1] The study of these structures uses social network analysis to identify local and global patterns, locate influential entities, and examine network dynamics.

You might want to add that the internet sites paying for surveys do not pay people over 50 years of age, all they get is a page stating they do not qualify for this survey, and that only after all the persons information has been entered and the survey has been completed. My wife found this out the hard way, after working for several weeks trying to complete surveys.

I think my demographic is the burned out intellectual sociopath market. I get retweeted and liked mostly for weird observations outside the collective morality. But I'm okay with that.

Nicely done! I read every bit of text. Being that I work for a domain registrar, I would say this pretty much sums up who I interact with everyday.

There is a segment that is being ignored and is the one segment to usually throw a monkey wrench into charts like these. The Builders -The generation that established the internet we know now. The ones who established dial up bulletin boards and built their own computers. The 'Ultra Geeks' who threw every spare dime into new tech as the computer era was being born. The ones who delivered the baby. They are still out there, on the cutting edge, buying into new tech and writing the reviews tinted with the experience of having been there first and seen it all. Many in their 50's and 60's but still the avid tech consumers. The Elders of the internet. Forsake them at your own peril.
